Teachers very rarely get any credit for what they do. They work hard and have to control an entire classroom of children every day 5 days a week. (Something many parents find difficult to do with only 1 or 2 children of their own!

They are charged with teaching and molding young minds, which winds up affecting all of us someday. Parents should remember that when they say goodbye to their child in the morning and when they spend time helping out with homework (and can’t understand it)

So Teachers, our hats are off to you and we wish you a very well deserved “vacation.” But is it a vacation?

Now that summer is here after a hectic year of teaching, school budgets, contract negotiations (if it's that time for you) and this horrible Flu epidemic that had so many students home, what do you do now?

Most teachers would love to take some "me" time and they should (for at least the first week)

Many teachers just knowing that they have an extended break allows them to work harder during the school year so they can spend some quality time with their own family. However, this extended break also may find teachers procrastinating and putting off "home" projects or chores until summer break.

My father is a retired School Business Official, who started his career as a school teacher. As a Child I have fond memories of our summer vacations. It was great close personal family time. While we could not afford to go on a Caribbean vacation or fly to Europe, we took some of the best family vacations. Our favorite family vacation spots included beach vacations, weekend trips, which were our cheap vacations and one, fun family vacation for 1-2 weeks. Our summer activities included playing in the backyard and visiting with friends. We also helped my parents with gardening and little jobs around the house.

These were fond memories, unfortunately today, many teachers are forced to work second jobs. Between this economic crisis, budget cuts and a salary that certainly is less than the job of "teaching our future leaders" deserves, the summer becomes a time to earn some much needed extra money.

Even then my father had to look for summer employment and try to find a part time job for teachers. Working a second and sometimes a third job to earn money to help pay the bills and enjoy a few luxuries, such as the fun family vacations I told you about above.

These were fond memories, unfortunately today, many teachers are forced to find summer employment. Between this economic crisis, budget cuts and a teachers salary that certainly is less than the job of "teaching our future leaders" deserves, the summer vacation, becomes a time to make extra money.

There are many summer job ideas for teachers. My father and I worked as carpenters and were able to get some work with a company or directly for a homeowner. With this economic crisis being the worst since the depression of 1929, even those summer jobs are difficult to get today with everyone watching every penny. Yet there are still summer job opportunities for teachers to earn extra money and spend time with their family. There are many online employment opportunities that lend themselves well to teachers and their skills.

Why online? Simply because most of us have computers and there are millions of people around the world that use it too.

The internet is an excellent source for summer employment for teachers. The internet has created a wonderful arena of opportunities for educators. Their educational background and experience gives them “a leg up” over most other people..

One thing is for sure, looking into some available summer job opportunities for teachers on the internet is easier than it is for most people that need to earn extra money because they do not have a real grasp of a computer or what the internet actually can provide. As teachers you work with and teach children to use the computer every day.

As I said above, my summer work included carpentry, landscaping and a general handyman, as my father taught me a trade to earn extra money. However, when I started my family I wanted to spend the time off I had at home with them. I looked to the computer for employment opportunities and ways to make extra money.
